VDOT Konnarock Area Headquarters

Quesenberry’s Construction was selected as the General Contractor for the new VDOT Konnarock Area Headquarters in Konnarock, Virginia. This project was awarded through a competitive bid solicitation. The project involved the construction of a combination building that included administrative and operational offices as well as vehicle maintenance bays. The facility also includes a separate chemical storage building, fuel island, salt pond, equipment and spreader racks, and related site improvements including concrete walks, asphalt paving, and perimeter security fencing. Civil infrastructure includes extensive stormwater detention and stormwater quality systems to treat runoff from the site. Conditions at the site necessitated that the existing soils be amended in order to be suitable for the fill operations required to bring the site to subgrade. Quesenberry’s worked with the project team and consultants to aid at arriving at a solution to this issue that minimized negative impacts to the project. This was a key factor in allowing Quesenberry’s to complete this project on time and within the specified budget.
