Project Summary
This project involves the adaptive reuse of the existing Pippin-Wyllie
Hall, which previously served as the campus library for the University
of Virginia’s College at Wise. This includes a complete renovation of
the entire 28,000 sf original library building, which is an existing 2-story
building originally constructed in 1966 with an addition added in 1996.
Renovations include complete reworking of the entire floorplan and
systems, installation of new MEP and fire suppression systems, new
glazing systems and exterior openings, new roof system including
architectural skylight, new monumental stairs, relocation of elevator
shaft including new elevator system, installation and coordination of
owner provided equipment, new finishes throughout all areas, and new
exterior plazas and site improvements at two levels. This project is
planned for a LEED Silver Certification.
Quesenberry’s Construction was selected as the Contractor for this
project after a best value RFP solicitation. This project is currently on
schedule to allow UVA Wise to begin classes in Spring Semester 2024.
