UVA Wise Pippin Wylie Conversion (In Progress)

Project Summary

This project involves the adaptive reuse of the existing Pippin-Wyllie Hall, which previously served as the campus library for the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. This includes a complete renovation of the entire 28,000 sf original library building, which is an existing 2-story building originally constructed in 1966 with an addition added in 1996. Renovations include complete reworking of the entire floorplan and systems, installation of new MEP and fire suppression systems, new glazing systems and exterior openings, new roof system including architectural skylight, new monumental stairs, relocation of elevator shaft including new elevator system, installation and coordination of owner provided equipment, new finishes throughout all areas, and new exterior plazas and site improvements at two levels. This project is planned for a LEED Silver Certification. Quesenberry’s Construction was selected as the Contractor for this project after a best value RFP solicitation. This project is currently on schedule to allow UVA Wise to begin classes in Spring Semester 2024.
