The Meadows Sports Complex-Abingdon

Project Summary

This project involved the construction of approximately 34 acres of state-of-the-art sports facilities and community parks, located in the heart of downtown Abingdon, Virginia. The complex was constructed to enhance the quality of life in Abingdon and the entire region by supporting our local teams and families while providing traveling youth and adult sports teams the ability to compete in baseball, softball, soccer, football, lacrosse, and more. The complex offers two 225′, one 300′, and one 350′ skinned diamond fields with fencing, lighting, and scoreboards. The diamond fields are equipped with a press box and private meeting space for officials. Public and family restrooms along with concessions are accessible within this area of the complex. Also on site are two multi-purpose fields that are regulation-size soccer fields, as well as a multi-purpose field that is half the size of a standard soccer field. These fields can be used for a variety of sports. Public and family restrooms along with concessions are accessible within this area of the complex. Other amenities include an ADA-accessible playground, a walking track around the perimeter of the complex that has access to the Virginia Creeper Trail, picnic areas, lighted parking lots, and ornamental landscaping throughout the complex. Quesenberry’s Construction acted as the General Contractor for this project and was able to complete the project within budget and on time to allow for spring sports to commence as originally planned.
