VDOT Fremont

Quesenberry’s Construction was selected as the General Contractor for the new VDOT Fremont Area Headquarters in Clintwood, Virginia through a competitive bid solicitation. The project involved the construction of a combination building that included administrative and operational offices as well as vehicle maintenance bays and a fuel island. The site was designed to allow for the future construction of a chemical storage building, spreader and tailgate racks, and underwater brine storage. Site civil work included an underground stormwater detention system to eliminate the need for surface retention and treatment areas, maximizing the use of available space on site. Other site improvements include concrete walks, paved approach and parking areas, perimeter security fencing and gated access, and related amenities. Though the project experienced unforeseen delays due to supply and resource allocation issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is currently scheduled to finish within budget and on time for a January 2023 completion.
