Dickinson County Social Services

This project involved a complete 20,800 sf renovation of the existing Longs Fork Elementary School located in Clintwood, VA for use as an administrative headquarters for the Dickenson County Department of Social Services. Work included a new TPO roof, new electrical service, new high efficiency VRF mechanical system, new interior finishes and reconfiguration of floorspace, restroom renovations, exterior improvements, and ADA compliance upgrades. Quesenberry’s was brought onto the team early in the project and performed complete design build services including coordination of the owner’s program and end use needs, complete design and preconstruction services, and construction of the finished facility. Quesenberry’s also helped coordinate demolition of the existing gym and abatement of the space to be renovated while design was being completed. This project involved execution of an interim agreement for complete preconstruction services prior to drafting of a GMP contract. Once design was complete and trade packages were bid out, the GMP contract was drafted and executed allowing construction to commence. The project was completed on budget and on schedule, allowing the Department of Social Services to occupy the renovated facility and continue operations with minimal interruptions.
